Dogs share 99.9% of their genes with wolves, but that 0.1% is much larger than you'd think - tens of thousands of years of evolution say so.
Diet
Wolves:
Carnivores. They can digest raw meat, bones and organs, go longer without meals, and they absorb nutrients in a different manner.
Your Dog:
Omnivore. Your dog has evolved to digest what you eat: lean proteins and carbs. Their ability to stave off common pathogens in raw food is very limited, and they do not demand as much protein as their ancestors.
Environment
Wolves:
Hunt for every meal and have to fend for themselves in the wild.
Your Dog:
Spends 50% of the day sleeping, 30% of the day lounging, and 20% of the day being active.
Lifestyle
Wolves:
Live alone or in packs, aren't spayed or neutered, and answer to nobody.
Your Dog:
Depends on you for everything, goes on vacations, has healthcare, dental care and vaccinations, and allows you to make all of their decisions for them.
Lifespan
Wolves:
6-8 years
Your Dog:
10-14 years
Your dog isn't a wolf or even an all-star athlete, feed them like you'd feed yourself: a balanced diet consisting of whole-food, fresh ingredients.
